The B-Delaware Lines of the Garrison’s Compass Project at Family Tree DNA have received the most
exciting results yet. Recent results support the lineage of John Garretson/Garrison & Elinor Robinson
Garrison of New Castle Co, DE.

Results of a 67 marker test for kit # 162067 have been posted and he has several close and perfect
matches. The donor is someone who has been researching his Garrison roots for many years and was
reasonably sure of his origins. He had traveled to Maury Co, TN and Franklin Co, GA to research his
ancestors. His test results will help others who are less certain to connect with their proper family. His family
is one of the Garrison families that migrated to Montgomery Co, Illinois. His direct line moved on to
southwest Missouri and then to Kansas.

John & Delila lived for a time in Franklin Co GA near his mother Elinor and several of his siblings.   John is
listed as an unsuccessful drawer in the 1805 Georgia Land Lottery along with his mother Elinor and his
brothers Caleb, James and Zebulon.

John’s family is enumerated in the 1820 census in Maury Co TN where John died in 1823.

Delila Garrison requests that Isaiah Garrison be appointed administrator of the estate of John Garrison,
deceased. 21 April 1823.

John’s wife Delila and most of their children moved to Montgomery County Illinois by the time of the 1825
Illinois State Census. John’s brother James Garrison and Delila’s sister Margaret Baker had married each
other and moved to Montgomery County IL before the 1820 census along with other Baker families. James
Garrison died and Margaret returned to Georgia. Delila was soon followed to Illinois by John’s younger
brother Zebulon and his family. All of them and other related families lived within walking distance of each
other in southwestern Montgomery County.
