John Wesley Garrison, Jr's Final Illness and Death

Please read the "Memorials" section at the end.

Hello,

My name is Tracy Garrison.  I am the son of John W Garrison Jr.  My father has been ill.  In January he was
diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis.  It has progressed rapidly.  On September 17th he was admitted to the
hospital and was put on a ventilator.  A week later they had weaned him off and was able to remove it.  He
then had a surgery to insert a pacemaker for his heart.  On Saturday the 29th of September his lungs had
gotten worse and had to be put back on the ventilator.

He asked that I tell all the members about his condition.

Today (Thursday October 5th) they got another xray of his lungs and they look worse than the day before.
The doctors said that they have done all that they can do for him and that they would like for the family to
be there tomorrow.  They will probably decide after the xray to pull his tube.

The only thing we can do now is pray for a miracle.

Dear cousins,

It is with a sad heart to pass along the news of my father's death.  He died today (October 6th, 2007 at
3:06 PM central time).  He died with his family at his side and I told him about all of your prayers.

I look forward to helping this group carry on with its mission in any way that I can.

11 Oct 2007 - re: Funeral Services

Here is the information about services for my father.  We finally got the military paperwork cleared.
Seems there was a fire at the archives in 1973 that makes it hard to find some records.

The Garrison family will greet friends and relatives from 3-6 PM on Sunday, October 14th, and 9:30 AM
until time of services at 10:30 AM on Monday, October 15th at the Third Presbyterian Church, 1030 N.
7th St., Springfield, Illinois.  Reverend Brent Mitchell will officiate at his funeral.  Burial will be in Camp
Butler Cemetery.  Staab Polk Memorial Home, 201 S. Main, Chatham, Il, is serving the family.
