The Confederates had several flags.  The one shown on the right is called the third flag by historians.
It has been used because it does not flaunt the crossed bars (considered distasteful by some), but it does
discreetly display them. --- Webmaster Calder Garrason who had non-Garrason ancestors who fought on
either side.
