DNA Results have proven that John Garretson van der Hof (d 1694/5 present
New Castle Co, Delaware)
was not a brother of Henry Garretson, Sr and his
proven brother Paul Garretson of the same place.
Here an item of special interest to descendants of Gerrit Jansen van Oldenburg.

In January 1993, Phyllis J. Miller published an article in The New York Genealogical and Biographical Record entitled,
“The Garrison-Gerritsen Descendants of Gerrit Jansen van Oldenburg alias Gerrit de Mof.”  In 2010,
Perry Streeter
published a multi-part article in New Netherland Connections entitled, “
Gerrit-1 Jansen van Oldenburg: DNA Testing
Yields More Garrison Descendants in New Jersey & New York.”  Perry’s article identified Johannes-3 Gerritsen (Jan-2
Gerrits, Gerrit-1 Jansen) of Staten Island and Amwell Township, Hunterdon County, New Jersey as the father of John-4
Garrison (say 1701–1774) of Amwell Township, New Jersey and Staten Island, New York and the ancestor of the
Garrison family of Amwell and Bethlehem Townships in Hunterdon County, New Jersey.  Johannes-3 Gerritsen was
also the brother-in-law of Duncan Oliphant.
